The events leading Napoleon's rule.

What I, The Great Napoleon, Want (5/10/1794)

My name is Napoleon. Many are holding me back from what I assure to be my current goal, complete and total control of Europe. The French Directory, our current government, is nothing more than a mere group of men making decisions that clearly benefit nobody but themselves. I tire of Robespierre's selfish ways, and yet, opportunity has not struck me yet. The only reason I side with him and the rest of his distasteful government is to gain their favor so that one day I may strike back. O diary, how I always yearn for more.

Translator's Notes/Summary: When translating, I changed "Je commence à en avoir assez" (I'm getting fed up with) to "I tire of" for clarity's sake.

Mission Impossible (6/7/1794)

May I admit something? I'm real sick of Robespierre and the rest of his horrific, lollygagging government. Who do they think they are? Where's the conquest? Where's the glory? Nowhere. It is nowhere to be found. So much for a revolution. I know what one has to do. Robespierre. Robespierre has to executed. I'm sick of him, I'm sick of his government. How'll the government survive without a deputy? Without a deputy, someone has to fill that spot and take control. If and when this occurs, I shall step in and instate myself as leader. Then, I'll truly show the world how great I am. O Diary, how everyone will fear me, the great Napoleon!

Translator's Notes/Summary: A "deputy" in this context refers to a member of parliment, which the French government was at this point in time.

End Of Robesperrie (7/28/1794)

O joyous day! The very deputy that led the French Directory is gone! Robespierre was beheaded by guilotine! Now comes time to instate myself, the great Napoleon, as supreme leader of Europe. I know that it will not be easy, but I shan't let anything stop me now. These people need my leadership and my strength, and so does all of Europe. O Diary, how I sense great things ahead!

Translator's Notes/Summary: This marks the start of Napoleon's rise to power. Also shortened "Ces personnes ont besoin de mon leadership et de ma force. La France a besoin de mon leadership et de ma force. Il en va de même pour toute l'Europe." (These people need my leadership and my strength. France needs my leadership and my strength. So does all of Europe.) to "These people need my leadership and my strength, and so does all of Europe." for clarity's sake.
