For the first time I have executed a plan with success far greater than I imagined. I stormed into Italy and broke them free from the clutches of the Austrian Empire. As I ended the king's tirade, I exclaimed "our only quarrel is with the tyrants who have enslaved you." That seemed to cement myself as the head of their government, however it was not easy. Many men were killed and fear was instated to the people of Italy. Beyond their fear lies me, their now great and wonderful leader. O diary, how my dreams slowly become reality.
Translator's Notes/Summary: It may seem like Napoleon is just some power-hungry tyrant, however, he actually did some pretty important things for Italy during this time. He united religions in the region and imposed educational and legal systems.
I know I'll be the greatest leader that ever lived. I was promoted to a one star general at the ripe age of 24. I go on expeditions in an attempt to bring glory to and expand the great and fruitful French empire. My enemies often doubt me, but what they don't know is that I always come back. Recently, I was sent on an expedition to Egypt, in an attempt to disrupt the trade routes of the British. Many thought that me, a mere man with a stature of 5'6" was insane to do such a thing. However, we succeeded in our conquest in July, fending off the British army and navy, and have since conquered the entire north of Egypt. O diary, I will end this entry off by passing along to you what I have told my dear soldiers. "From the height of these pyramids, forty centuries look down upon you."
Translator's Notes/Summary: Napoleon's height was actually 5'6" and not 5'2" like many think. Also, the direct French translation of the quote here would be "Du haut de ces pyramides, quarante siècles vous contemplent.", or "From the top of these pyramids, forty centuries look down upon you."
My troops and me have decided to take charge of the French government for ourselves. We are growing tired of the weakened government that is the National Legislation. After the death of Robespierre, it's only been getting worse. My troops and I have a plan. Later today and tomorrow we will surround and attack the National Legislation and drive all members out. I know that it is now time for my military expertise to shine. O diary, how I await the fall of the National Legislation, and eventunally the installaiton of me as emperor.
Translator's Notes/Summary: Napoleon gets ready to attack and destroy the French Legislation, which is essentially France's parliment.
It's finally happened. Though there have been some bumps along the road, I have finally became leader of France. Through many trials and tribulations, including a failedin Egypt, I have managed to convince the France people that they are worthy of and ready for my rule. I have rewritten the French constitution to fit my values, which I deem to be Napoleonic, I have officially deemed myself First Consul of France, and I have successfully created a new government. O diary, for there is no more revolution. I have told this to my friend people, and told them well. Earlier I stated to them "I am the Revolution."
Translator's Notes/Summary: Direct French translation of the quote at the end is "Je suis la Révolution."
