Over these past few weeks, I have managed to convince the people of Elba to build me a boat. They have listened to their leader as the people in France once did. I shall arrive in Europe soon enough. The allied forces of Britain, Russia, and the rest of Europe never suspect that I will come back. From what I am aware of, the allies all have plans to send me to a more remote island where I will spend the rest of my days. I shan't stand for it. They shall, soon enough, see the true power of Napoleon. O diary, how I cannot wait to see my people once again!
Translator's Notes/Summary: The allies against Napoleon at the time (Prussia, Austria, and Britain) heavily feared Napoleon returning to France and reinstating his rule. He turned their fears into reality when he returned to France via boat later that same year.
The wonderful fearless leader the French people have been waiting for has finally returned to grace them with his presence! The allies thought they could get rid of me, but look at them now! They'll never, never escape the clutches of the Great Napoleon! The French people have welcomed their leader back with grace, wanting me to claim the throne to their country yet again. I have many plans to expand France's influence yet again, and I am finally ready to put them into action. O diary, my glory has returned!
Translator's Notes/Summary: In the time that Napoleon was gone, The brother of King Louis XVI, King Louis XVIII, ruled france. King Louis XVI was the last reigning monarch before the French revolution.
I have failed the world as a leader. Who do they think the Great Napoleon is? Those horrible, disgusting, #@%*$! My plan was for a quick and offensive victory so that I could claim Prussia for myself. That plan ended in disaster, as Prussian forces had gathered in the Netherlands and outnumbered my men. They have driven us to retreat as over 20,000 of my great soldiers have died. I then fought in Waterloo, where me and my men disgraced our country and ourselves. We attempted to attack the left centre of the allied forces to drive back the Belgians, which worked for awhile, however, their heavy cavalry did us in. It is over for me. I sense that soon I shall be exiled again, and this time forever. O diary, the end is nigh!
Translator's Notes/Summary: There were a few obscenities that I took the liberty of censoring in this diary entry as well as the next one.
It is over for me. In December of last year, British forces exiled me to the cursed island of St. Helena. I got on the ship in October, and accomodations were made for me there. I am constantly supervised by British forces as I work daily and meet with them often. These pieces of !#$@ don't know who I am! They have dethroned me and made me a mere plebian. What's even worse are the paintings I have been shown in an attempt to mock me. Why did they portray me like this? Why did they dishonor me in such a way? Why must all of these #)*$ hate the Great and Honorable Napoleon?! I know that I will not live for much longer either. I will die and my legacy will be that of a failed leader. My son will not carry on my reign and I will be laughed at for centuries to come. O diary, how I atleast hope my tragic tale is told.
Translator's Notes/Summary: Napoleon died on 5/5/1821, less than a month after this diary entry.
